he asked for my cell phone number tonight when i almost got arrested for trespassing in a parking lot ..why did he ask for my cell phone number? no jokes..
i'm paranoid i took out the battery already
eric you made me laugh .. pooped in a sink haha dude i love to spray paint stuff too

A way to contact you. However, a cell phone is also seen as a wallet and it can be legal for them to look into the memory of it. So, even though that sounded legitimate enough, always delete messages or anything else private.

Its usually just a way to contact you later on if they need more information or to relay information to you. Its a standard question everybody gets from most agencies

Do not ever give a cop anything without having a lawyer present.

In case the person who's property you trespassed on wanted to press charges he would be able to contact you.

probably to scare you. unless the area is vandalized soon or has recently been vandalized you are probably safe.

I think it's because so many people have cell phones - I know a couple people who don't have landlines. They communicate using their cell phones and telepathy...and armpit hair.

cuz he wanted to HUP later haha when we got off work. Jk jk jk umm im not sure why he asked you for a cellphone number mayb he wasnt a real cop

cops want respect, and the badge and gun don't auotmatically give it to them, so they try intimidation tactics. good that you didn't succumb.

I live in the UK and I have been asked for my number. But I agree with Six, you shouldn't give any information without a lawyer.
