Do people really gossip a lot in the workplace?

yup

that is why i work by myself - out on the farm - no annoying gossips - i get tired of listening to that crap - i really don't care who is doing what or whom - i really don't care who drives what - i really don't care about clothes - i really don't care who gained weight and they are still wearing last years clothes - i really don't care about makeup - i really don't care about any of it ...........

unless it directly effects my property i don't want to hear it at all

the weather is always a safe topic of discussion

we need rain by the way
 
I heard that there's a lot of gossip in the workplace. Is that really true?

If so, what sort of stuff do people gossip about?
 
The workplace is the same as outside the workplace, too many idiots with nothing to do and no professionalism say mean things about their co workers and others. To find out all the dirty dirt, get a job and find out for yourself.
 
They do, especially if it is a high school mentality. Several years ago I was making a copy and someone came up to me and said "so and so is gay." I said why do you think that? she said "because she never talks about men."
How stupid is that? I looked her in the face and told her don't be so dumb. \
She was just trying to start some crap.

A few years ago someone started a rumor that I was leaving my job. I found out who started it and confronted her. She looked like a deer caught in the headlights. I was laughing and I said why would you say that? She said "well we were all sitting around eating lunch and I couldn't think of anything else to say." Again...how dumb is that?
 
I should say so - who's going out with whom and does their husband/wife know.
