Do two people need a common interest to date?

I am a sophomore in high school and I haven't dated before but I want to.

One of the things is, I'm not sure how much of a common interest I would need to have with someone before starting to date them, or if we need any at all. What would be some things couples usually bond over?

Also, somewhat on a different tangent, how would someone who is very shy (at least to people he doesn't know well) express interest in a person in a way that both conveys the point, yet isn't creepy?

Thanks in advance!

no my girlfriend and i had everything in common. that relationship was a trainwreck. i nfact she ended up blowing her brains out. i'm glad she did since she was such a lousy human being but ya know i guess it was still tragic.

I think it would definitely help!

I mean you don't have to be like clones of each other, but a common interest would definitely help; otherwise, it would be really difficult to talk to one another about anything you know? It can be any common interest, from hobbies, to sports, to future ambitions, etc. Just start the conversations with people you're interested in, and see whether you click with one of them; usually when you click with a person it's because you have something in interest). Could be as simple as having a similar, quirky, or shy, or outgoing personality!

hope this helps!!! good luck!!! :)

Can you answer mine? ANYONE, pretty please?! Thanks SO much!!! :D

It helps if you have things in common, for at least to give you something to talk about..but you can still date someone for other reasons like physical attraction.

Not necessarily. The point is to find your common interests by doing things like going to a movie, walking in a nice part of town, or going out for dinner. By doing fun things that most people enjoy, you can talk and then find out what you really share. In my opinion, most human beings have many things in common, so it's really up to you what you choose to find in the other person. Everyone has good and bad characteristics, so if you want to succeed in a relationship, amplify the other persons good traits!
