Do Upscaling dvd players require scart connection? Or just HDMI?

Hi,
I am going to buy an upscaling dvd player so I can watch normal DVDs in HD quality.

1. Are they any good?

2. Do I need to have it connected via scart socket and HDMI? Or just HDMI? I dont have any free scart sockets on my tv at the minute.

Thanks Steve. So the Upscaling dvd player plugs directly to the TV and I can bin my old dvd player?
