in other words, why do you believe that Jesus is the savior? Is it because the Bible says so?
Dear Gutbucket, if you find it hard to answer a question, please refrain from speaking ********.

Read genesis about Sarah and Abraham. the two could not have a child till God blessed them with one....ISSAC. mean while Abraham slept with Hagar and had a son. you got two paths here in this conversation. ishmail and issac. Issac leads to Jesus ishmail leads to mohammad. there is only one truth and it comes with believing Jesus is the SON OF GOD. the proof is that he will send his spirit to live inside you and you WILL KNOW why we beleive. its not intellegence. its not being right. its the truth. matthew 28 will tell you why christians tell others about the gift of the holy spirit living inside them. Jesus said GO tell the world the truth. baptize them in the name of the father son and HOLY SPIRIT.

I don't believe the writers of the New Testament were truthful in the writing of Jesus life.
I don't believe an actual person portrayed in the Gospels lived.
I believe that Jesus is many stories handed down through generations who grew to the person we know.

It seems that the story was written to meet the prophecies. The stories written after the fact made sure that the prophecies were fulfilled.

Writing was available during Jesus life and the stories indicate he could write.
Why would a God have people who never knew Him write His story when it would be so much clearer if He wrote Himself.
If He was so important why did it take around 60 years after His death for anyone to write about Him and then it was strangers.

Below is some history of early Christianity , its a bit long but informative.

What prophecies, who told you that I believe in a savior (saved from what) and the bible is an old book about mythology, so what are you talking about.

Yes, because of 300+ prophecies written anywhere from 500 to 2500 years prior to His coming.

They include WHERE He would be born, WHEN He would be born, HOW He would be born, how He would live, how He would die, etc, etc, etc.

If Jesus had NOT fulfilled all these prophecies, then He couldn't very well have been the Messiah.

Don't say "You believe the Bible is true because the Bible says it is true." That is total and utter nonsense, and only mocking fools say these things, because they ignore HOW and WHEN the Bible was written!

(Note: The Bible is a collection of 66 writings by 40 different people over a 1,500 year span of time. It was NOT one book written by one man at one time.

If you collected all the scientific journals that talk about one particular aspect of science (black holes, for instance), and one journal was written 50 years ago, and then another journal written just last year by some one else commended the first journal for its accuracy, and then if you put all these journals into one binding for convenience and ease of access, would this be a case of "The journal is true because the journal says it's true" ? Of COURSE not, like DUH!

And that is exactly what is happening with the Bible! The Bible is not true just because the Bible says it is true. It is true, and one author commented on another person's writings and agreed with what he said, stating that the other person's writings were accurate.

The second author was writing to people who already knew and trusted him, and he was writing about another man's writings whom his audience (friends) did NOT personally know, since he had been dead for thousands of years.

It is NOT a case of "I'm right because I said so, and if you don't believe me, just ask me, and I'll tell you it's so."

This is the accusation made by atheist mockers who are either too lazy to do any research, or too stupid to understand this very elementary concept.

So, the Bible is true, period. But it isn't true just because it says it's true. It's true because it IS true.)

Did it ever occur to Christians that the NT writers simply read the OT and just wrote the Jesus story to coincide with these prophecies? At which not an excellent job is done anyways?

I mean there are 0 records of Jesus in Roman records while there are records of other "messiahs".

Most of the so called fulfilled prophecies are given such a flexibility of interpretation that just about anything can be seen as a fulfillment. The prophecies range from coincidence to just plain wrong.

The author of Hebrews said that the world was already in End times which was not the case obviously. That alone should invalidate the Bible.

But alas, Christians see what they want to see.

well practically yes .. but that entails a full understanding of what the word of god is .. Jesus is what and whom he is apart from your feelings or wish or hope or belief system .. he set up certain criteria as well and gave power to certain things or people..one he empowered the truth in scripture and quickens it by the holy spirit .. the spirit of truth ..2ns he uses the word of god preached thru man , again quickened by the spirit of god ,so that by the preaching of the good news of christ crucifixion as being the atonement for fallen mankind's sin and him being the only way to achieve satisfaction in the eyes of god .."a perfect sacrifice " the just for the unjust ..
No i don't put the cart before the horse .. the prophecies fulfilled testify to jesus christ as being the messiah , but do not make him so .. he was and is the lamb slain before the foundation of the world ..
Same with scripture .. it testifies to the truth of who jesus is .. not he is because the bible says so ..

since man can interpret scripture incorrectly and then preach a false doctrine ,,be a false prophet /false teacher . the truth is fully found in jesus . since he is alive and we can have access to him we come to him humbly and asking for forgiveness and he gives us new life / born again . when the spirit of truth indwells or quickens our mortal bodies , then he will lead us and guide us into all truth .. at that point the illumination of the holy will give insight into scripture like a friend illustrating truth as we live our lives.and suddenly the practical application of the word of god is shown to us ,,, like a friend saying .."see.. do you get it now?"

Not just because the Bible says so, but a Historically Accurate Book recorded prophecies that all came true through Jesus. The whole Old Testament pointed to Jesus and what he was coming to do. All throughout Scripture there is fullfilled prophecy!

Isaiah prophisied Babylons overtaking of Jerusalem 100 years before Bablyon was even a powerful nation! And it came to pass exactly as God said it would.

That's like me saying Armenia (a small country of only 3million) will one day Counqure America. To say something in our time would be crazy. That's probably what those who heard Isaiahs prophecy felt. But there is great reason to believe in a historically accurate Book which is God's written Word.

he was born as the son of God. he had the mission to build God´s Kingdom here on earth.
the people should have united with him "absolutely" but they did not.
so Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for us to have a better tomorrow.

You do realize the Bible saying so isn't solely why we believe it? We know that the basic outline of Jesus' life as given in the Bible is historical fact, so we take the details on faith from the credibility of the Gospel records.

There are hundreds of millions of followers of Jesus Christ - Christians. Even if there are only a handful of true, Holy Spirit filled Christians (John 3:5 again) surely that should tell you that we dont just accept writings - that we experience the spiritual aspects of Yahweh every day? Operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit is about as valid as it could ever get - we know that Yahweh is real and every thing about His Word is real thru practical experience so its time for you to get real and stop insulting hundreds of millions of mostly intelligent people with devious questions.

I apologize on behalf of Gutbucket! WOW! what a jerk!

Yes, I believe He's my Saviour because His birth and life and death fulfilled dozens and dozens of prophecies TO THE LETTER. It is mathematically impossible that one "person' could have had all of those details come to pass in their life! It would be a number one with more zeros that you can put on one page, to put it simply.

I also believe He is my Saviour because He SAID He was God in the flesh! It's very hard for ME to see how anyone could believe He was a holy man or a prophet and then disregard that fact that He claimed that He IS (or was) GOD! That would mean that I believe that he is 99% right on, but the other 1% that ISN'T right on is either delusional or a pathological liar!

I also believe He is my Savior because of what knowing Him had done to CHANGE my life!
Please read my answer here:

That pretty much sums it up why I believe.
I pray that one day you will believe as well, my friend. God bless!

No he has fulfilled some of the prophecy's concerning the birth and life of the Messiah, but here are a lot more prophecy's to be fulfilled. News at 7

No,for the millionth time he DID NOT fulfill ANY of the prophecies

Stop trying to act like you know Judaism when you know nothing about it and it's Prophecies.

You do realize that Christianity is the ONLY belief system that is based on the fact that a savior Was born, Lived, Died, rose from the grave, walked amongst us for 30 days and then ascended to heaven, right? And that we CAN have a personal relationship with Him today, right? If none of those things happened..........theirs no Christianity. The cool thing is that the Bible is not the only reference of Jesus's life and death. Do a little research and I think you'll find that Jesus IS very much real.

Yes, because he fulfilled the prophecies, led a perfect life without sinning, spent all of his time preaching and teaching others about God and willingly died an agonizing death so that you and I might have a chance of everlasting life.
