Do you need a router to use WiFi at Iphone?

I have an Iphone 4s 16 gig and i have the plan i can use 1gb hotspot im just wondering if I can connect to the road runner cable i have and use that as my Wifi at home? idk how -_- please help

You must have a wifi router in order to access wifi, no matter where you are. Some spots may be "hotspots" for your carrier, but otherwise a router for wifi is needed to get access on your phone.
