Okay, so, I'm curious about how Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament prophecy or not...and why you believe that he did or didn't.

I'm a Catholic, so naturally, I would believe that he is the Son of God. Now though, I'm questioning that. My mother thinks I'm thinking too much about this, but I want to know, and I want to decipher whether or not I personally think he is the Son of God or not.

Thank you for your time!

prophecy wont be fulfilled until the son of man returns to take his people home, and man stands before the hand of God to be judged eternal life or death. Jesus came as a living example of what kind of people God wants in his kingdom, he came to save his people from death to be a living sacrifice for their sins so that they didn't have to sacrifice animals and lambs anymore. hence the title lamb of God. when the Hebrews sinned they had to sacrifice an unblemished lamb a perfect lamb. Likewise Jesus had to be pure with out sin with out blemish and he was. He was the Hebrews lamb.

Odds of Jesus Christ being a false prophet:

The Old Testament gives us a thumbprint: "Its says that when you find the person that fits this thumbprint, that's the Messiah!"

Throughout History Jesus THE Christ is the only one who has had that thumbprint.

If you are A skeptic, I challenge you to study the historical facts about Jesus Christ -- His death, His resurrection, and the prophecies written hundreds of years before He came that show with pinpoint accuracy that Christ Jesus is THE Messiah!

Look at the odds of any one person fulfilling these prophecies.

A mathematician proved that the chance of any one person fulfilling even 8 of these Old Testament prophecies was :

One IN 10 to the 17th power OR 10.00000000000000000!

Those Odds would be like covering the earth with silver dollars placing them heads up and painting the back of one THEM GREEN!

And giving YOU all the silver dollars if you can pick up the silver dollar with the back painted GREEN in one try !

Oh I forgot to mention that Jesus Christ fulfilled 300 plus prophecies and about 436 details.

With that amount of evidence only a very dishonest OR foolish person rejects Him as the Messiah

God rewards those who diligently seek him!

Here is some of my homework to prime the pump!

We are created by God who has identified himself as Yahweh and presented himself in human form as Christ Jesus.

The bible chronicles The life of God incarnate. Not very PC though if you are still in School!

IF the Bible is the real-deal, the Word of God, then we have a book that answers the issues of life.

Therefore, it is very important to determine IF the Bible is reliable.

The Bible is a collection of 66 books (39 Old Testament, 27 New Testament) written over a period of 1500 years by approximately 40 different authors about creation, history, prophecy and Gods plan for all of creation.

This fact is a miracle ALL by itself!

How can 40 different authors over a period of 1500 years write a collection of work that doesn't contradict itself??

Answer:

It can not do this without Divine intervention!

The Bible gives Facts and principles such as:

The earth being round Isaiah 40:22

The earth being suspended in nothing Job 26:7

The valleys in the seas 2 Samuel 22:16

Hospital sanitation Deuteronomy 23:12,13

quarantine Leviticus 13:45-46

That the blood is the source of life Leviticus 17:11

(DNA) is a new discovery that gives us to think that it is like a computer program God Designed with instructions on how to create a Human Being that is unique!

ALL these scientific findings were recorded in the Bible hundreds (sometimes thousands) of years before they were “discovered” by scientists.

These are just a few examples, there are many, many more.

Who else but God could have revealed such things that were unknown to man – and yet would later be discovered and confirmed?

And put in a way that they could understand then and we would understand later!

GOD knew because he created them all!

Hundreds of prophecies have been documented!

Prophecy is a promise from God of what is to come.

Unlike other books and false religions whose predictions have come and gone (and failed)!

The Bible has never missed.

Laughed at sometimes until God allows for instance DNA to be discovered

Or Allusions to Television in Revelations when the bible says the two witnesses will be seen by the whole world and then raised up from the dead.

Keep a sharp lookout for that prophecy it is coming soon to a TV near you.

Consider Psalm 22:12-18 which describes the crucifixion of Christ.

Now consider that Psalms was written 1,000 years before Christ was even born,

and at least 600 years before crucifixion existed!

This is just ONE example regarding Jesus, there are hundreds more.

Google "fulfilled prophecy" by Jesus Christ

There are many ministries, scientists and historians whose work exclusively deals with prophecy.

It seems pretty clear at this point that a book written by so many different people over such a period of time containing all of these undiscovered scientific principles and specific predictions about people, places, and events with 100% accuracy could only be the product of something supernatural - God.

He tells us in 2 Timothy 3:16 that he is the author.

The Dead Sea Scrolls, discovered in 1947, are an overwhelming source of confirmation.

These scrolls contain manuscripts about 1,000 years older than what we previously had... and they all match!

It takes a lot more blind faith to ignore the Bible than it does to accept it as divine and reliable.

Many intelligent and scholarly skeptics have set out to disprove The Bible and God’s existence

only to find overwhelming evidence that God does exist and the Bible is His Word.

All human beings are expected to make a choice about the Deity of Jesus Christ.

Jesus says if you seek him honestly He will personally make himself known!

As a help the Bible can be confusing.

To Learn about Jesus you would start reading The Gospels.

The Gospels are written from 4 different perspectives!

When Jesus was Here on Earth we had 3 Cultures going on Jewish, Roman and Greek.

Matthew: written to be interesting to the Jews i.e. geneology!

Mark : written to the Romans about the power of Jesus his works ... healing the blind, raising the dead so on so forth.

Luke: written to the Greeks for the intellectual Greeks. It pin points history with names of Kings and rulers and so on.

John: written to the whole world so that the whole world might be saved. Have fun I hope you meet the Prince of Peace!

But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher.

He has not left that open to us."

In other words, either He was the most sane person who ever lived and walked the face of this planet,

Or

he was absolutely out of his mind with his claims.

But, since "actions speak louder than words", you need to look at what he did.

He healed the sick,

made the blind to see,

the lame to walk,

the deaf to hear,

and the dumb to talk.

He healed lepers,

forgave sins,

and even raised the dead.

When he commanded the storm to stop, it obeyed;

and when he commanded demons to leave, they obeyed his authority and left individuals alone

whom they had been tormenting.

An insane person could never manage these things.

All these things He did in 3 years.

Read Issiah 53 and Psalm 22. These are the OT prophesies pointing to Jesus.

"I'm a Catholic, so naturally, I would believe that he is the Son of God"

Are you a Catholic because you've thought things through for yourself? Or because that's how your mother brought you up? Of course she doesn't want you thinking too much...it's because Christian beliefs fall apart when a little common sense is shown.

Before you start deciding whether Jesus fulfilled any prohecies, how about you find out whether such a person existed in the first place? That would be a good starting place.

Which Old Testament prophecy do you mean. Jesus fulfill many of them, in fact too many to mention here.

It is not one prophecy, there are many alleged prophecies in the Old Testament. However, you need to be aware that not everyone agrees on what are prophecies and what are not and the Jews have a completely different set of prophecies.

This problem is compounded by the Gospels being written well after i.e. at least 40 years, the events they describe by unknown authors (their titles were given even later).

While you can "over think" some things like questions on a driving test, it is unlikely that you are close to over thinking this.

Some further questions you should consider:
1. Can the Bible be considered the inerrant word of God, if it does not match the evidence of what really happened?

2. If God is all knowing, why did he put the tree of knowledge in the garden when he knew that Eve would eat it?

3. Why does God require a sacrifice to forgive us, if he wants to forgive us anyway?

4. How can being dead for 3 days be considered a sacrifice for an eternal being, especially one that knew he would be resurrected? (this still applies if you add in terms like the "weight of all sin")

These are just a few of the questions you should ask and seek honest, objective answers to.

Did somebody say Old Testament?

(Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT)

If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

Yes - the Bible states He did and the Bible is the truth and the Word of God. Leave it at that. If you do not go to Bible Study at a Church, join today.

did Mary name him Emmanuel (or Immanuel) as it is written by Isaiah.

if no, then no. the messiah is supposed to be named Emmanuel by his mother.
