Do you think that the Blue Ray disc will replace DVDs (...like DVDs replaced VHS)?

I am collecting movies I love. I want to know if it is worth continuing my DVD collection, or if Blue Ray discs would be more favorable for the future.

Also, I know a Blue Ray has more space on it, but what is the main reason for their existence?

Yes, it is the next thing. Why buy a dvd when you can get the blu ray or wait for it. Blu Ray is superior not just in space, but importantly in picture clarity at high resolutions and even better sound.

watch blu ray on a high def tv set up appropriately and you will know why.
 
I don't think I would know a "blue ray" if I tripped over it.

My movies are on DVD and TAPE--no, not Beta..I'm not that hopeless.
