does canned food spoil out in the ocean on a boat?

Many canned foods are good for a couple years. But they do eventually expire. The navy does not hesitate to dump thousands of expired cans of food to the bottom of the ocean when they are offshore for extended periods of time.

Unless there is some mistake, canned food does not spoil very quickly. It has an airtight seal and preservatives to keep it fresh. However, once its opened, it can spoil within a few days depending on what kind of food it is. Check the expiration date on every can before eating it. If the can doesn't have an expiration date, don't buy it or eat it.

Inkslaye, canned food won't spoil that's for starters, and usually on world ocean trips, your not on the water all the time, you do berth at some ports to restock and refuel, pick up fresh water etc. So you would bring aboard fresh produce to last from port to port.
