even though the fighter can recover? It frustrates me when a fighter is knocked down then the referee stops the fight even though the fighter can recover from it and get back to fighting. When I watched Kimbo Slice vs James Thomson and Kimbo took elbows and the referee did not stop it but when Thomson was dazed but still standing he stopped it and also Butterbean vs James Thomson the fight was stopped even though he just tripped. Also the fight Ben Rothwell vs Cain Velasquez the refree stoped it even though Ben could recover.Whwn brock Lesnar was being beat down by Shane Carwin the refree did nt stop the fight and I agreed with the ref.I know the ref has to make though decisions.Even when the fighter I like wins I still want his opponent to recover too make it an interesting fight.

Ultimately its the referee's job to protect the fighters. If a fighter gets a flash KO (example Arlovski vs. Buentello) then the fight should be stopped. Even though you may think that fighter can recover and looks alright chances are he may not be. Look at all the screwed up brain injuries in boxing because of the standing 8 count.

I do agree with Rothwell fight was stopped early but at same time Ben showed that he was outclassed every were, Rothwell is a striker and he was getting out striked and man handle, normal in those dumb situations like slavery position when guy cant protect himself but isnt getting hurt too bad the ref has to call it. With Brock fight is hard to say because Brock only defense was laying their covering his face, he didnt try to get up or improve position which shows signs of guy giving up usually, but most of shane's punches were poorly done as he was more than 75% of punches on ground didnt even hit brocks face just punching his big arms that were protecting him. I would say that if this happen again in second round with Shane and brock ref would have to call fight because brock is not even attempting to fight back.
