Does my Dry cell battery Have to run a negative wire from the primary battery?

My new battery is kenetic brand. In the manuel it shows a picture of a positive and a negative wire runing all the way to the primary battery does the negative have to come from the battery or can i run it to a metal part of my car like an amp?
