DTV question for a tv i bought last year?

hey guys
me and my bf just got a new TV last summer its samsung and there are tongs of digital inputs and outputs, so that probably means that its digitally ready but when they did that little test on the news station my tv turned out to not be ready.... so i was wondering do i really need the converter or can i just get a digital receiver... is there such thing?? My TV is sumsung full HD 1080p....it also has serries 550 on the tag that came with it.... please help, im very not electronically savvy.

Every TV sold after 2007, with a tuner, must have a digital tuner as well. So, I am sure your TV is ready, but your antenna may not be!

Go to antennaweb.org and it will help you either pick an antenna or position it the best possible way to get the most channels in your area.
