When I was a kid (10-15 years ago) I remember there always used to be boats that would take you out for 1-2 hours sea fishing whenever we went to the seaside. It would be about £10, and aimed at beginners and the day trippers. It was very basic but there was always plenty of mackerel to catch, and you would keep what you caught, and they might even fillet or gut the fish for you.
Do these still exist? I'm hoping to go to Southend this weekend and would love to take the family on one of these trips. Or maybe another seaside location?
