Fitness question? this has been really bugging me!?

ok I've been doing ab workouts for almost two months and I've been doing them at my gym in college, the first time i did them i got really sore, and I knew it was working, but the 2nd time they didnt get sore, so what does that mean? am I doing it wrong? what should I do?
 
I am sure it did small things, but you need to keep doing it until you cant which is called muscle failure, where you literaly cant do anymore.
