I've got a Samsung rogue, it's a wonderful phone and I love it (i've got Verizon). Recently the screen cracked and i've got a couple of questions regarding it's repair, before I get to those tho, 2 things:
A.) I understand that verizon offers refurbished phones for those with insurance. I have the insurance, I dont want to go that route, I've had bad luck with refurbished phones ive recieved in the past.
B.) I've been looking on e-bay to just get a used rogue, everythings a little pricey when you compare repair costs (if i repair it myself.)
Okay my questions are:
1.) There are visible cracks in the screen, however it feels smooth to the touch (i.e. I can not feel the cracks when I run my fingers over the screen.) I've been under the impression that it's the digitzer that's cracked however since I can not feel the cracks and the touch screen still functions just fine, im wondering if perhaps I was wrong in thinking that the digitizer is what is broken.- I then thought perhaps it was the LCD that is broken, however the screen still looks fine (colors still great. no "blacked out" or "blurred" parts, text is still clear, pictures still visable) - the only screen issue is being able to see the lines of the cracks.
-Can anyone offer insight into this? All of the above considered could it still be the digitizer?
- If it is my LCD that is cracked, would the screen look the way it should like it does for me now?
2.) If this is the LCD screen, Would that be something I could fix on my own (yes I understand professional installation is recommended, however i'd like to just do this on my own if at all possible).
3.) Are there any other tips/advice that anyone can give me into finding out better if my problem is the Digitizer or the LCD screen? Are there any tips/advice that anyone would like to offer me for repairing my screen?
4.) And finally, I understand that things such as the digitizer are held in place with a type of glue, does anyone know if I purchase a new digitizer would the adhesive be on it? Do I need to look into purchasing this adhesive separately (I would assume thermal glue - something along the lines of the substance used to adhere a CPU to a motherboard.)?
Thanks!
