...before coming to re? A 5000 lb elevator is at rest 10 ft above a spring with a spring constant of 20,000 lb/ft when the cable break. The elevator falls and compresses the spring 2 ft. It then bounces back up
the shaft, falls back down, compresses the spring again, etc.
What is the total distance traveled by the elevator before coming to rest?
