Cons of Mirena IUD
I just decided to the get Mirena IUD about a month ago, and had it placed about a week and a half ago. I was surprised at how much it hurt to have it placed, during the procedure and the rest of that day I was miserable. It always hurt, and I would cramp from time to time. It just never felt right. A couple days after the IUD was inserted I started my period, and continued to bleed quite heavily for an entire week thereafter. Then one day while I was walking into work I felt like I peed my pants, so I ran to the bathroom. It was blood, I was hemorrhaging like crazy, and blood clots kept coming out of me. I was able to get an appointment with my doctor a couple of hours later. I went in and told him everything that had happened, and about my levels of pain and discomfort. He was a bit condescending, it was irritating. He said patients ideas of heavy blood loss is not always the same as a doctors idea of blood loss, and that I was probably fine. But, just to be on the safe side he checked me. To his surprise, my IUD had slipped out and was lodged in my cervix, which caused massive amounts of bleeding and discomfort. He finally admitted I was right about the heavy blood loss and removed the IUD the rest of the way. I would never get an IUD in again. It is a form of birth control, the only problem is I never felt good enough to even have sexual intercourse while the IUD was inside me. A waste of my time and money and blood.
