HD videos not playing properly on Windows 8 but used to play on Windows 7?

I have a Pentium-4 PC with 2 GB RAM running on Windows 8. The problem is that HD videos aren't playing properly after I installed Windows 8 but they used to play perfect when I was using Windows 7. Do I need some additional drivers or something? Please help.
