A TV with 4 HDMI, 2 component, 2 composite, 1 PC, 1 USB, 1 optical digital audio output and the sound system has 3 HDMI inputs w/standby pass-through.

I want to hook up my TV, cable box and blu-ray (and eventually an xbox) and have the sound from any source come out through the home theater speakers. So regardless if it's just plain TV or Blu-Ray, or an xbox game I'd like the sound to come from the speakers.

How would one wire this and what/how many cables will I need? Like I said, initially there won't be an xbox until Christmas so it's not crucial to have that info immediately but if you can spare the knowledge I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for your time in advance.

If your receiver has upconversion you can plug everything into the receiver and then output 1 hdmi to the tv. if your receiver doesn't do upconversion then you need to hook up every kind of video that is going to your receiver to your tv as well.
