How can Cam Newton be considered rookie of the year when his team is losing?

Isn't all about winning? My vote would be for Andy Dalton, he's helping the Bengals turn around. Who cares about that fuking arrogant @ss, media sweetheart Newton and his stats.

Its clear that its about the play of the rookie not about the record. If it was it would be rookie record of the year

Your team does not have to be winning to win a rookie of the year award

In that case, Dalton must be as good as Drew Brees, it's all about winning right? Shut up. The Bengals have played a cupcake easy schedule but they have yet to play the Steelers or Ravens. Also Dalton isn't doing anything great, he's just not messing up, Cam has single handedly taken the Panthers league worse offense and made it top 5. Talk to me in 5 years when the Panthers have a team around Cam.

Because Newton can manage a win in the worst team in the nfl. Worst then the Colts!

Thats exactly what Cam Newton said.

He is seriously fed up with it. Every time they interview him now, he says something like, we only have two wins still? or did I miss something?

His numbers are amazing, like a combo of a young Peyton Manning and Michael Vick.

Dalton is playing well too and has his team winning. There's still a lot of season left. If Dalton gets his team into the playoffs, I'm sure he'll get the ROY.

You might be thinking of the MVP award. Rookie of the Year has never been about records. Most of the time, the award doesn't even go to a QB.

Anyone with football sense knows that passing yards are overrated. Newton passed for barely over 200 yards today and most of them came late in the game when they were down by 4 touch downs. He started off hot as a pistol, but has slowly started to pass for less and less yards and throw more interceptions. Personally, I think Andy Dalton or the young rookie running back in Dallas are ahead of
Newton.

Because it is American sport and get voted by American people who mostly cannot even think straight.
They just read the stat, the number without thinking. In their simple mind, the number indicates the whole thing, if the kid throws 3000 yards w/o a victory, they still think the kid is God. Sad, isn't it?

Sam Bradford was rookie of the year last year. The rams were 6-10, it is not about team play, the rookie cannot control that, it is about having the most impact on your respective team, Cam Newton already has several records, and is on pace for more. Therefore he is having the most spectacular season as a rookie this season.

As much as I like Dalton and thought Newton was going to fail, Newton has done more for his team than Dalton. The Panthers defense is nowhere close to the Bengals and Dalton has not been asked for his team to do as much as Newton because he plays in a conservative run oriented offense.

Dalton: 13 TD, 7 Int, 1696 passing yards, 85.0 rating
Newton, 19 TD, 9 Int, 2393 passing yards, 87.1 rating

Cam's led his team to home victories over Washington and Jacksonville. That should be proof positive right there. What more do you want him to do?

No, it's not all about winning when it comes to voting for the ROTY.

I do believe Andy Dalton has been better statistically THROWING the ball than Newton. However, the Bengals actually have a defense Dalton can play behind, while Cam does not.

I'd vote for Cam, Andy is a close second.
