I have an HDMI cable from my Blue Ray to My tv. Image is Great but sound is coming from the TV.
The blue Ray has only one HDMI so that one is used by the TV. I bought an optical cable to conect the blue ray to the Home theatre but nothing, someone at panasonic told me that if i conect an HDMI from a Blue Ray that will traspassed video and sound (obious) but also wont allowed any other sound go out the blue ray, thats why my optical cable is not getting the job done.

Can any one help?

Connect the 'Audio out' from the television to the surround system. Then, your TV will pass the audio there.

Good luck.

You could get an audio cable (red and white on both ends) and hook it up to the "audio out" plugs of your TV and then plug the other end to your surround sound system. Your surround sound should then work with anything hooked up to your TV.

If you have a sound system you most likely have a receiver, the big box with a lot of ports in the back, that receiver should plug into the TV via HDMI, then you plug your Blu-Ray into the back of the receiver, that way it is hooked up to the sound and all, because it's going to the receiver, I only have two cables running from my Plasma, the HDMI from the receiver, and the power cord, that way all my boxes (DVR, DVD player, Blu Ray, Xbox, Wii), go into the back of my receiver via HDMI, and the speakers are plugged into the receiver, so everything including xbox and regular TV is surround sound, hope this helps.

I have a blu ray player that is connect to the tv via HDMI cable and an optical to the receiver and no problem with sound (it is a Panasonic BD-10). When you connect the optical to the home theater in the box you have to select the source input you plugged the optical cable to so that you can hear the sound. Some tv will not pass the surround sound and only stereo if you connect the optical cable to it. Check the owners manual on your tv if it does pass the digital audio. Hope this will help you out.
