How can I temporarily disable the engine cooling fan, on a '96 Lincoln Town Car?
I know that in the newer 4.6L, V8 Ford/Lincoln/Mercury engines, like my '99 Mercury Grand Marquis, the engine cooling fans are electric, and run only when needed-- those are easy-enough to disable but, the one in my '96 Town Car appears to be more of an "old-school" fan; which runs off of the serpentine belt, which (of course) runs the fan all the time, while the engine's running.
When the engine's running, I can hear that the fan has an "idle speed", as well as a higher speed(s), which leads me to believe that it can be turned off.
Thanks!
