how come people say if aliens exist than religion is wrong?

how come people say if aliens exist than religion is wrong? just because aliens became known to exist how does this say that god doesn't? if aliens do exist which i believe they do it just means that god created more things in other places doesn't it? i mean if i was god i would not only make one set of life on one planet if i have the opportunity to make what i want where i want. i am just confused as to why alien existence would mean god doesn't exist to so many people. i just do not see the relation and why people do not think god would make other life in other places. could someone please help this make sense to me?
answer to the first commenter: why would the bible or any religious book have to mention it? i am sure god doesn't want us to know everything and he probably wants us to find things out by ourselves. without science and trying to figure things out people would go crazy with nothing to do. in my opinion god only told us what we needed to know to get started on earth and life is only a test to see how loyal we are to god or maybe he doesn't mind if we stray a bit but really just wants to see how loyal we will be to whatever belief we have. i do not think that he would tell us if their was life somewhere else because that would ruin the fun of discovery and possibly every time something bad happened to someone they would think that god was favoring the other life over us when really he is just seeing how react to everything.
one last thing he is not my god as someone said he is everyones god weather you believe in him or not he loves you. also a lot of religions have the same god just a different name for him.
 
Beats me! If God decided to create intelligent life on other planets in other solar systems, that is certainly His right. And our becoming aware of such beings wouldn't change the history of God's interaction with human beings on this planet in the slightest way.
 
I don't need aliens to exist to know religion is wrong. The ignorance in all the religious books are enough to know it is purely man.
 
Yea...that would be the logical way to look at it. But some religious people are still hung up on the notion that earth is the center of the universe. I can see a lot of Christians remaining Christian if and when an extra terrestrial race makes contact.
 
Hey, if aliens exist, and can contravene the laws of physics as we understand them in order to visit us, and if they have a religion, I'll be first in line to convert.

The problem is a lot of people confuse the word "religion" with Christianity. Christianity requires that the God of the entire universe, 14 billion light years across, incarnated as a human, and that unless you believe that, you will either face non-existence or eternal torment.

So unless God spends a lot of time incarnating on a lot of planets, giving that exact same message to any and all sentient species, aliens would affect the nature of a number of major religions on this planet.
