How do I connect my Xbox and Directv DVR?

Currently I have a network cable (CAT5) coming from my wall by use of powerline adapter connecting to my Xbox360. What I would like to do is connect my Directv DVR via CAT5.

What I would like to know is if I can connect to a simple 4 port network HUB and successfully make a connection to both my xbox and DVR or will I need to use a SWITCH?
 
If you are only using a hub and not a router/switch and you are trying to connect both to the internet, it will not work. That configuration requires a router/switch to hand out your ISP's DHCP address to both devices.

If you are trying to just to connect the xbox and the directtv box together then yes that should work.
However, short of having a hack of some sort, the two WILL NOT talk to each other.
