So I am thinking about starting an alt. metal / post-hardcore band because I absolutely love this style of music. Grew up with it, and it has helped me figure out sooo much crap in my life. So as a musician, I wanna make my own music in those genres. What is the best way to go about the sound though?

I wanna make my own sound, not steal from gods like Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace, but anyone have some general tips to point me in the right direction? I know both bands use hollowbody guitars, but how the heck do they get such great distortion tones from them?! and people keep going on about how certain amps aren't loud enough live, yet when I hear bands like the ones stated above among others, there guitars don't sound very loud compared to the vocals even.

So what kind of amps / effects / guitars / pickups , etc should I look into? Thanks!!! Also, I know, I did originally post this in another category, but just to make sure I get the most answers, I'll post it here too ;)

Ok.... Doest matter what guitar you use as long as its not Hollow/Semi Hollow.

Next I think you should get yourself a distortion pedal........ great for metal.

nd just a normal amp forlike 150-250$

NOTE: YOUR WHOLE BAND SHOULD USE DISTORTION PEDAL
