How do I hook my DVD player up to my HD direct TV box?

It uses Audio video cables, where as my old one was just one cable in, one out..
they say in and out, and have the color coded wires.. but I don't know what goes out of the tv into the box, and into/out of the DVD player..

OMG.. if the service tech would have just hooked it up, like he was supposed to, then I wouldn't have to be asking this on here...LOL

I'm not sure why the DVD player is connected to the HD direct TV box. Can you record DVD's on it? How many and what color are the input jacks on the read of your TV and the rear of your DVD player? You can email me the answers those questions if you would like.
