I have an HDTV with a surround sound system that has a 5 DVD player in it, I have a blue Ray DVD player now but don't hav any inputs to plug into the surround system. Which also has the inputs from the cable box. for now it's plugged into the TV and those speakers suck.

You connect your blu ray disc player directly to the tv using HDMI cable and from your tv connect and optical cable and connect the other end to the home theater in box. Home theater in a box does not have any input that you can connect other gear to it. It has one optical input for audio. Hope this will help you out.

Some older surround sounds don't have the digital or fiber input, so if yours doesn't, just connect a/v cable from the tv audio output to the surround sounds input.
