The problem is, my dad's old laptop DOES NOT support USB or Network boot. All it supports is Floppy, CD, or HDD boot. And the CD drive just does not seem to read ay discs.
I have a Windows XP CD. I also have another Windows XP desktop handy if something can be done from there.
I have a USB to IDE converter. I wondered if I could install Windows XP fresh on my own desktop HDD, clone the partition to the Laptop's HDD (connected to the desktop via USB-to-IDE converter), put the laptop HDD back into the Laptop and make it work?
I forgot to mention a piece of detail -- the laptop's XP installation is currently corrupted and I cannot boot into the OS, which is why I need to install Windows XP on it in the first place.
