How do I make my TV stop searching for channels So I can watch my DVD player?

My TV keeps searching for channels and telling me to check the antenna or cable box. It says to press the 'channel up' button. When it gets done looking for channels it will say 'no signal found' and then tell me to hook up the antenna or cable and look a second time. I want to plug in my DVD player and turn it to AUX, but I can't do this for as long as it is doing this.
 
Connect the DVD player to the desired input on the back of the TV, i.e. AUX, AV1, ViD-1, HDMI-1, etc., whatever you're using. Then use the TV's remote to select that input. Check your user's manual for the procedure for changing inputs if you're not sure.
