How do I...Nextel Motorola i880...capital letters in text messages?

when i'm typing texts in my morola i88o from nextel..i cannot seem to get it to make capital letters..i've seen it do it..but i'm not sure what i pushed..i dont normally use alpha..i use word..like when I type a name in the middle of a sentence..like if I say my name is Chris..cant do it..or if i try to type TomTom..cant do it...and I lost the instruction manual.
