how do i play divx movies on ps3?

I have directly connected my usb hard drive thats loaded with divx movies to my ps3... when i go to video... it dosn't have any of the files viewable... it does show my mp3 files but not my divx... why? Where can i get a divx player for my ps3
ok the display all worked!!! but when i open up the particular folder where the divx file is... it dosn't show them!! why not?
when i try to do an update... it says i have latest version.
