How do I see the list of songs on my iPod when it's plugged into a truck's usb port?

Just for long trips in my dad's truck. It's an F-350, if that matters. Not sure of the year, but it's no more than 2 or 3 years old.

When I plug my iPod into the usb port, it'll play music (after I push the auxiliary button), but i can't view the music list to pick through songs at all.
