How do you play DVDs with DivX player?

I do not want to rip DVDs, I don't have the space. I just want to insert and play in high definition, such as with rentals. My previous computer (with a slightly inferior video card) had PowerDVD which played DVDs in very good quality, much better than Win MP. However, it's expensive and DivX player is free. But, how do I simply PLAY them when I insert them? I only see the option to rip and copy, which is NOT what I want to do.
 
You should be able to go to your drive, right-click on the video and choose "open with". I'm not sure if the Divx player can play dvd format. If not you can always download VLC Player or Media Player Classic. These also are free and will install the needed codecs.
