How do you turn off a ps3 controler without a ps3 console?

I had to get my ps3 fixed so shipped it to sony and i forgot to turn off my controler its been two days since the ligths on my controler have been on i really need help. PLZ
 
Take a paper clip or a safety pin, turn the controller over (the side without buttons) and next to the screw on the top (closest to the words SIXAXIS) there is a little hole there. Insert the paperclip in it and the lights will have turned off.

When you get your PS3 back, go to settings-->powersave settings-->controller auto-off ON. The controller will turn off automatically after 10 mins if you don't use it.
