I need to download something onto a DVD that can hold over 4.7 GB or mabye a little more so what im wondering is will a regular dvd from a movie work? i dont want to go to the store to buy more and i have lots of dvds laying around. also if that works how do i wipe it clean from my computer so i can put what i want on it? Thanks for the help!

DVDs from the store cannot be erased and reused. All single-layer DVDs hold 4.7GB. There are dual-layer (abb. DL) that hold twice that amount, but they are more expensive and some DVD burners aren't compatible with them.

If you are burning movies onto the DVDs, I know that my copy of Nero 8 makes compresses videos larger than 4.7GB so that they fit on the DVD (it degrades the quality).

You can purchase a special type of DVD disc called a Dual-layer disc. They're a little pricier, but they hold double what a normal DVD disc would. You should be able to purchase them at your local electronics store.

Hope this helped!
