How To Convince My Parents To Let Me Get A Smartphone?

Okay so my upgrade is coming up in about a month. My parents have already ruled out smartphones because of their "expensive" data packages. I'm on a family plan so it would only be around $15 a month or $360 for the two-year contract. I have already tried convincing them by telling them I would save up and pay for the extra $15 a month, but they said no still. The phone (Samsung Captivate for AT&T) is only $0.01 if you order online, and it would be a Christmas present. I don't see why they won't let me get one? Please help? Thank you.

Tell then that practically there are no other non-smart phones on the market, and the ones that are break within the matter of 3 months. Soon you're going to HAVE to pay for data anyway, and all phones will be smart phones. You should tell them that you will pay for the data package each month.
