My old Bose life style 12 doesnt have optical audio connection but only the dolby digital rca cable connection. So far i got the blu ray hooked up on my bose L and R ( red and white) connection and it sounds good but i know if i can hook up the optical blu ray connection to the dolby digital,,,it will be better...or so i hope. Is there some kind of converter that can convert from optical to dolby ? Any suggestions appreciated.

You either have to run a coaxial digital audio cable (RCA to RCA) or an optical cable. If you don't have an optical connection on the sound system or a coaxial digital output on the Blu Ray player, you're pretty much SOL. Although, I would be very surprised if you don't have a coaxial digital output on the player. That's a pretty standard digital output. And, you can just use a standard RCA to RCA cable for that, if you don't want to spring for a coaxial cable (but, they're only a few bucks on eBay).
