My friend wants to install windows 7 on his computer, but he doesn't have a dvd drive. Is there a way to install it without having to burn the OS on a DVD? I believe his computer only reads cds. Help would be greatly appreciated.
I know for sure it can run windows 7, so no worries.

it sounds as though the pc may be to old or outdated to run W7, there are very few PC's or laptops sold these days that arent fitted with a DVD drive.

Have you checked the spec of the PC to see if it will run W7.

You could always bung a DVD drive into it to install W7, its an easy enough job.

You can install from a USB stick simply download the ISO image from microsoft extract the files into a folder (NOT THE USB STICK !!) then run cmd then type "diskpart" Then go through the following commands one by on

SELECT DISK 1

CLEAN

CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY

SELECT PARTITION 1

ACTIVE

FORMAT FS=NTFS

(Format process may take few seconds)

ASSIGN

EXIT

After that is done copy the extracted files to your memory stick restart the computer and hit F2 to boot from USB

Download it off the microsoft website;
if you have the code that came with the DVD, you can download it, and then upgrade using that code.
