...how to power it? We are going to be flying to Europe from the US in November with our son. It's his first time flying and he is very excited about it. We are thinking of bringing a portable DVD player for him to watch movies on (or would my husband's iTouch be better to take for watching movies)? The flight will consist of three legs (2 hours, 8 hours, 2 hours) - how to keep an electronic device powered for that long? What other things would you suggest to keep him entertained? Thank you.

I just got home from taking a trip to Europe. The plane we took there had individual tvs at the seats, and you could choose from a lot of movies and tv shows what to watch. You should try to find out if your flight will have those.
I would also suggest trying to find a portable DVD player that runs on batteries. I don't know if there are any, but if you could find one, you could just change the batteries when it dies.

depending on which airline you are taking some have tvs and movies playing. take the dvd player fully charged and play some of his favorite movies on there. also download some movies onto the itouch. charge them at the airport if you have time to. unfortunately usually forst class only has chargers. bring snacks (chocolate, trail mix, ext. fly well). bring some story books for him. let him have some rest time and bring a pillow. bring coloring/sticker books for him. toys maybe legos or action figures would be nice, quiet and simple for him to play with. i hope this helps :D
