How to play dvds/blueray on windows 8?

I download a 3rd party app but it still don't work
btw I wouldn't waste my time asking this if my hp envy dv6 wasn't compatible for blueray/ dvd

First, is your player compatible to play dvds and blueray discs? Because if the physical drive doesn't play a blueray disc, all the software in the world won't help.

So, first check the equipment to see if it is compatible as blueray player.

Until that part can be resolved, there isn't much else that can be said.
