How to run torrents behind a firewall on linux?

Another workaround:

Buy a VPS.
Use Xforwarding and use Transmission.
When torrents are done downloading on your server, SSH (SFTP) them to your computer.
This will be an encrypted transfer, so the university will not know what data is coming in.

When you go back home on break set up an FTP server in your room with remote desktop access. Then when you want to download torrents have the server do it, and then FTP it to your college computer when it's done. It's a little slower but it'll work. As an added benefit you can use the server so you have cloud based media and other goodies like that.
