how to un-jailbreak an Ipod touch 4g that is coming up as an iphone in itunes.?

The white skull will be in place of the white apple sometimes. The restoring on apple hasn't worked, because the Ipod Touch is "appearing" to be an IPhone in ITunes. The hold for two seconds then ten etc thing hasn't worked either. Also the touch won't appear on the desktop. Any help?
I've also tried putting it in DFU mode and restoring it to factory settings.
