...it nothing appears in finder? I accidentally dragged a dvd I inserted out of finder and now every time I insert it nothing appears in finder, I thought by dragging it it would drop onto the desktop, instead it made the mac "poof" noise and disappeared... is it forever? :(
 
Did you drag the icon showing a DVD name off the dock? That icon was just an alias to the DVD and should show back up when you reinsert it. Have you tried rebooting your computer and then inserting the DVD again. Sometimes that clears things up.
Try another DVD and see if it is just that particular one.
If none of this works we could use a little more information about what you did and what type of DVD it was.
