I am really interested in joining the navy but have no idea what to expect can

My good friend was in the Navy for 6 years. He described it as "absolutely boring. So mindnumbingly boring that the best part of my day was playing 'spin the screw' where we'd spin a little screw and whoever could spin it the longest won"

He was stationed on an aircraft carrier, dunno what his job was. He can tie a lot of knots though. He also told me that boot camp was easy, because there are a lot of dumb people there, and all of the ordinary people just stand around watching the dumb people get yelled at.

anyone help me out? I am a 16 year old female and a sophomore in high school. I really want to join the navy but have no clue what to expect the training, life style, tests etc. any info people could give would be helpful
How long can you be stationed on a ship?
what about having a boyfriend and friends do you ever see them again or have to toughen up and say good bye for good?

It's an adventurous lifestyle there is no doubting that. However, beyond the advertisements a lot of people fail to realize that the Navy, like the Army, Marines and Air Force aren't about uniforms and travel. It is a branch of the military that all share the same goals, to defend America and its interests.

You will have to go through boot camp, A school, and additional training. And in the military, there is never an end to training. You will work for weeks straight, be put into combat postures and told you can't do a lot of things. On same days you will hate the Navy, on some you will love it.

Best of luck with your decision. Just remember, the government isn't paying just so you can dress up and travel around the world. You may one day have to man a battle station and defend your ship and your country. You have a purpose, traveling is just a pleasure that comes with the job.
