I enjoy arguing with people. (Debating, discussing, Im not talking about getting mad.) I said that Harry Potter is a great book and my roommate says they are bad and he doesn't approve. I think that he is wrong but won't listen and he believes he is always right. How do I convince him they are ok? Also, I have met a lot of people and when they argue they argue as if my opinion doesn't matter and that they are always right and it makes me mad that they can't open their minds. How do I deal with these people. Thanks for all you help!! (Also, I live on a christian campus/university) .

Harry Potter is easily one of the most popular franchises about. It gave the TV generation of kids inspiration to read. Something no other books have achieved recently.

Harry is Jesus. He dies and then is resurrected to save the world.

You can't win. He has his opinion, and it doesn't matter what you say. I know, because I have family members like that. Harry Potter is satanic, they say, makes people want to become witches, etc.

Personally, I love the Harry Potter series!

just ask him if he's even read the books.(movies garbage for various reason that i will be happy to debate-lol-)

NO, Harry Potter is EVIL!

It's right up there with The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, A Pilgrim's Progress, and any other Christian writing with magic and demons in it!

I know what you mean. If you live on a Christian campus, I'm sorry, but quite a lot of religious people are that way. Religious people, not just Christian. Frankly, I wouldn't even bother trying to convince him that the book/movies are okay. Is it really that important an issue? I wouldn't think that at your age you'd have Harry Potter posters up all over your side of the university dorm.

A heck of a lot of people approach discussions/arguments/whatever as something that they have to "win" as opposed to something where they want to find out the truth or understand the other side of things. I find that unfortunate.

dude you ever watch the Adams family . watch it closely and may close attention to the backgrounds . and most of all listen closely to the song .harry is nothing compared to that show .
