i burned a movie to a cd , i tryed playing it on a dvd player but it says...

...unsupported audio/video codec. HELP? I BURNED A MOVIE FROM MY LAPTOP TO A DVD-R 120MIN/4.7GB,, BUT WHEN I TRY TO PLAY THE DVD IN MY DVD PLAYER OR XBOX 360 OR EVEN MY PS3 IT KEEP SAYING UNSUPPORTED CODEC .... PLEASE IF SOMEONE KNOWS WAT THAT MEAN PLEASE HELP ME.. THANK YOU
 
re-encode your movie with a supported codec of your device, or buy a device made to read compressed movies
 
It means the file format the movie was copied to on the disc are not recognized or playable on the DVD player as most movies are copy righted and have coping protected coding on the disc.
