I read a series in years ago, early 90's maybe and forgot the title. In the book the main character is a peasant from a race of stout hairy humanoids. He does not know his own name as his mother gave him a long name that he could not pronouce as a child and was told on her deathbed never to repeat. I think his nickname was Rap. He later finds that his name is a little known word that holds magical power and the less people that know the word the more powerful it is. He later is told another word from a dying employer while at sea. This new word makes him an adept, able to master any skill in minutes compared to ordinary people. He learns a third word and becomes a wizard, a fourth and becomes a demigod. Then after falling in love with a princess and becoming king, he tells his entire kingdom the words during a speech which somehow cloaks the kingdom from neighboring kindoms and other wizards trying to hunt him down to learn the words for their own power. I remember the storyline to a t but can't find the title or author online. help me!
