I had a tooth removed and it broke so the dentist left part of the root in place,

is this right? i have had a tooth removed, while it was being taken out it broke and the dentist could not get the root out so she left it in and said that was common.

now my face on that side is swollen from my nose right down to the base of my neck, the inside of my throat is also swollen.

Has anyone ever heard of this being done? i am not sure if she just could not be bothered to complete the job properly.

any advise on reducing the swelling would also be gratefully received.

I have heard of it but that doesn't sound right at all....if you are in the UK call NHS direct now...google it NHS DIRECT....there are nurses on the line to advise....if you are in America get to hospital! Might be infected.
