Main problem is I don't know where to find a dealer in California to fix the car, and how much will it cost me. The speedometer almost always read 0 and it tells me I don't have gas, even if it's full, an electrical problem?. I need to fix the problems or I don't think I'll be able to take my drivers test, argh!
I've checked in blogs and forums, there seems to be others with the same 1986 300zx model problem but usually no clear answers.
Here's someones question and I relate to it: clem0053 says"Hi, i recently inherited a 1986 300ZX in great nic (only done 116,00km) however the electrics are faulty. Every now and again the electric speedometer will cut out and display 0km even when i may be driving 50-100. This happens quite regularly and will usually resume back to the correct speed after a short eriod of time... My question is what to do next? do you think i need to buy a whole new computer chip (if it is in fact a chip) and if so does anyone know how much they cost roughly?"
