I have an external USB DVD drive. With CDs I get sound but DVDs play the picture but

NO SOUND. What's wrong? Windows XP, On an Intel D915GEV motherboard with a Pentium 4 with 3 gigs of RAM. The DVD is an LG HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-E60L USB.
